Raag Gauree

Astpadhi 24. Pada no 7.

This pada is nearing the end of Sukhmani Sahib, and Guru Ji tells us about the wonders of Naam. It brings Infinite blessings and peace.

One who recites the Treasure (of Naam) in his mind; gets liberation from every age; it is the Attributes of God, His Naam contains the mystical sound current; the Simritees, the Shastras and Vedas extoll it’s virtues.

“Eh Nidhaan jappe mann koye; sabh jug me ta ki gatt hoye; Gunn Gobind Naam dhun Bani; Simrat Shastar Bedh bakhani.”

The essence of all wisdom is the Lord’s Name alone; (the Lord’s Name) it provides peace to the mind of His Saints; millions of sins are erased in the company of the holy ones; by the Grace of the Saint, one is freed from the messenger of death (strife, punishment, and miseries).

“Saggal mataant keval Har Naam; Gobind bhagat ke mann bisraam; kote apradh sadhsang mittay; Sant kirpa te jamm te chutay.”

One on whose head the Lord inscribes such blessed destiny; Nanak says, he enters the Sanctuary of the Saints.

“Ja ke mastakk karam Prabh paaye; Sadh Sharan Nanak te aaye.”
