Tu Karta Sachiar mehda Sain – Raag Assa/Rehras – Ang 11

Raag Assa M.4.

One of the Shabads we read daily in Rehiras Sahib. It is a Shabad in Praise of God, and of total surrender and acceptance of God’s Will.

You are the True Creator my Lord and Master; whatever You do comes to pass. As You give, so do we receive.

“Tu Karta Sachiar mehda Sain; jo To bhave soyee thisee soyee hao payee.” (rahao).

All belong to You and all pray to You; those who are blessed by Your Grace, they receive the Jewel of Naam.

“Sabh Teri Tu sabhni dhiaaya; jis nu kirpa kare tin Naam rattan paaya.”

The gurmukhs obtain it (Naam) and the manmukhs lose it; You Yourself separate from Yourself, and unite them.

“Gurmukh ladha manmukh gavaiyha; Tudh Aap vichoriya Aap milaiya.”

You are the River of life and all flow in it; there is none other besides You; all living beings are Your playthings; the separated ones meet, and by great good fortune, the ones cast away, meet again.

“Tu Dariayo sabh Tujh hi maaye; Tudh bin dujja koyee naaye; jee jantt sabh Tera khel; vijogh milh vicherhiya sanjogi melh.”

They alone understand, those whom You inspire to understand; they continually chant and recite the Lord’s Praises; those who serve You, find peace; they are intuitively absorbed into the Lord’s Name.

“Jis nu Tu jaanaiye soyee jann jaane; Har gunn sadh hi aakh vakhane; jin Har seviya tin sukh paaya; sahaje hi Har Naam samaaiya.”

You Alone are the Creator. Everything happens by Your doing; there is no one except You; You create all creation, behold it and understand it; servant Nanak says, He manifests Himself in the gurmukhs.

“Tu Aape Karta Tera kiya sabh hoye; Tudh bin dujja avar na koye; Tu kar kar vekhay jaane soye; jan Nanak gurmukh pargat hoye.”

ਆਸਾ ਮਹਲਾ ੪ ॥
Aasaa, Fourth Mehla:

ਤੂੰ ਕਰਤਾ ਸਚਿਆਰੁ ਮੈਡਾ ਸਾਂਈ ॥
(ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ !) ਤੂੰ ਸਭ ਦਾ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਮੇਰਾ ਖਸਮ ਹੈਂ ।
You are the True Creator, my Lord and Master.

ਜੋ ਤਉ ਭਾਵੈ ਸੋਈ ਥੀਸੀ ਜੋ ਤੂੰ ਦੇਹਿ ਸੋਈ ਹਉ ਪਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
(ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ) ਉਹੀ ਕੁਝ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਪਸੰਦ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ । ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਤੂੰ ਦੇਵੇਂ, ਮੈਂ ਉਹੀ ਕੁਝ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ।੧।
Whatever pleases You comes to pass. As You give, so do we receive. ||1||Pause||

ਸਭ ਤੇਰੀ ਤੂੰ ਸਭਨੀ ਧਿਆਇਆ ॥
(ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ !) ਸਾਰੀ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਤੇਰੀ (ਬਣਾਈ ਹੋਈ) ਹੈ, ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਵ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਸਿਮਰਦੇ ਹਨ ।
All belong to You, all meditate on you.

ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰਹਿ ਤਿਨਿ ਨਾਮ ਰਤਨੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
ਜਿਸ ਉੱਤੇ ਤੂੰ ਦਇਆ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈਂ ਉਸੇ ਨੇ ਤੇਰਾ ਰਤਨ ਵਰਗਾ ਕੀਮਤੀ) ਨਾਮ ਲੱਭਾ ਹੈ ।
Those who are blessed with Your Mercy obtain the Jewel of the Naam, the Name of the Lord.

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਲਾਧਾ ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਗਵਾਇਆ ॥
ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਹੋਇਆ ਉਸ ਨੇ (ਇਹ ਰਤਨ) ਲੱਭ ਲਿਆ । ਜੋ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਤੁਰਿਆ, ਉਸ ਨੇ ਗਵਾ ਲਿਆ ।
The Gurmukhs obtain it, and the self-willed manmukhs lose it.

ਤੁਧੁ ਆਪਿ ਵਿਛੋੜਿਆ ਆਪਿ ਮਿਲਾਇਆ ॥੧॥
(ਪਰ ਕਿਸੇ ਜੀਵ ਦੇ ਕੀਹ ਵੱਸ ? ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ !) ਜੀਵ ਨੂੰ ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ (ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਲੋਂ) ਵਿਛੋੜਦਾ ਹੈਂ, ਆਪ ਹੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਾਂਦਾ ਹੈਂ ।੧।
You Yourself separate them from Yourself, and You Yourself reunite with them again. ||1||

ਤੂੰ ਦਰੀਆਉ ਸਭ ਤੁਝ ਹੀ ਮਾਹਿ ॥
(ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ !) ਤੂੰ (ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਦਾ, ਮਾਨੋ, ਇਕ) ਦਰੀਆ ਹੈਂ, ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਵ ਤੇਰੇ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ (ਮਾਨੋ, ਲਹਿਰਾਂ) ਹਨ ।
You are the River of Life; all are within You.

ਤੁਝ ਬਿਨੁ ਦੂਜਾ ਕੋਈ ਨਾਹਿ ॥
ਤੈਥੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ (ਤੇਰੇ ਵਰਗਾ) ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ ।
There is no one except You.

ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ ਸਭਿ ਤੇਰਾ ਖੇਲੁ ॥
ਇਹ ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਆ ਜੰਤ ਤੇਰੀ (ਰਚੀ ਹੋਈ) ਖੇਡ ਹੈ ।
All living beings are Your playthings.

ਵਿਜੋਗਿ ਮਿਲਿ ਵਿਛੁੜਿਆ ਸੰਜੋਗੀ ਮੇਲੁ ॥੨॥
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਮੱਥੇ ਉਤੇ ਵਿਛੋੜੇ ਦਾ ਲੇਖ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖਾ ਜਨਮ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਭੀ ਤੈਥੋਂ ਵਿਛੁੜੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ । (ਪਰ ਤੇਰੀ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ) ਸੰਜੋਗਾਂ ਦੇ ਲੇਖ ਨਾਲ (ਫਿਰ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ) ਮਿਲਾਪ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।੨।
The separated ones meet, and by great good fortune, those suffering in separation are reunited once again. ||2||

ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਤੂ ਜਾਣਾਇਹਿ ਸੋਈ ਜਨੁ ਜਾਣੈ ॥
(ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ !) ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਸੂਝ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਦਾ ਹੈਂ, ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਜੀਵਨ ਦਾ ਸਹੀ ਰਸਤਾ) ਸਮਝਦਾ ਹੈ ।
They alone understand, whom You inspire to understand;

ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਸਦ ਹੀ ਆਖਿ ਵਖਾਣੈ ॥
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ, ਹੇ ਹਰੀ ! ਸਦਾ ਤੇਰੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ (ਹੋਰਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਉਚਾਰ ਉਚਾਰ ਕੇ ਸੁਣਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।
they continually chant and repeat the Lord’s Praises.

ਜਿਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਸੇਵਿਆ ਤਿਨਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ !) ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਿਆ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੇ ਸੁਖ ਹਾਸਲ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ ।
Those who serve You find peace.

ਸਹਜੇ ਹੀ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਇਆ ॥੩॥
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਦਾ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਿਆ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।੩।
They are intuitively absorbed into the Lord’s Name. ||3||

ਤੂ ਆਪੇ ਕਰਤਾ ਤੇਰਾ ਕੀਆ ਸਭੁ ਹੋਇ ॥
(ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ !) ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ, ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਤੇਰਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੀ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ।
You Yourself are the Creator. Everything that happens is by Your Doing.

ਤੁਧੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਦੂਜਾ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਇ ॥
ਤੈਥੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ (ਤੇਰੇ ਵਰਗਾ) ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ ।
There is no one except You.

ਤੂ ਕਰਿ ਕਰਿ ਵੇਖਹਿ ਜਾਣਹਿ ਸੋਇ ॥
ਜੀਵ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਭਾਲ ਭੀ ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈਂ, ਤੇ, ਹਰੇਕ (ਦੇ ਦਿਲ) ਦੀ ਸਾਰ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈਂ ।
You created the creation; You behold it and understand it.

ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪਰਗਟੁ ਹੋਇ ॥੪॥੨॥
ਹੇ ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ ! ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਰਨ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਪਰਗਟ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।੪।੨।
O servant Nanak, the Lord is revealed through the Gurmukh, the Living Expression of the Guru’s Word. ||4||2||
