God operates by, and ensures all creation abides by His Hukam. In His Will, His Bhana, He can give bandh khalasee i.e. salvation from all karmic bondages which arose from breach of His Hukam. There are instances however where there is some injustice taking place. He acts swiftly to ensure there is no injustice. In such instances, He acts upon His Birdh, His Innate Nature which is always Mehervaan – Gracious and Kindly.

In this Shabad, a Sikh sings Praises of God for exercising His Birdh to save him from miseries/injustice.

He did not consider my karmic account (lekhas) at all, such is His Innate Nature; He extended His Hands towards me, made me His Own, and saved me. Forever and ever I enjoy His Love.

“Hamri gannat na ganniya kayee Apna Birdh pehchaan; Haath de rakhe kar Apne sada sada Rang maan.”

The True Lord and Master is always Merciful; my Perfect Guru stopped all miseries and I received total salvation.

“Sacha Sahib sadh Mehervaan; bandh paaya mere Satgur Puray hoyee sarab kalyaan.” (rahao).

The One who fashioned the body and infused the soul into it, and who gives you clothing and nourishment; Nanak is ever grateful to the Lord who Protected His Own slave.

“Jio paaye pind jin saajiya ditta penan khaan; Aapne daas ki Aap paij rakhee Nanak sadh kurbaan.”
