Raag Wadhans M.1.

In His Will, we all have to shed our bodies one day. Guru Ji says we surely have to proceed to the hereafter – “assan bhi Othe jaana.”

To prepare for the journey there (where all have to render accounts – lekha), Guru Ji says one should cherish the Path, i.e. live in His Hukam and take to Naam –
“Sahib samalhe Panth nihale.”
There is no other way towards salvation besides Naam.

ਆਵਹੁ ਮਿਲਹੁ ਸਹੇਲੀਹੋ ਸਚੜਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਲਏਹਾਂ ॥

Āvhu milhu sahelīho sacẖṛā nām la▫ehāʼn.

Come, O my companions – let us meet together and dwell upon the True Name.

ਰੋਵਹ ਬਿਰਹਾ ਤਨ ਕਾ ਆਪਣਾ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਸੰਮ੍ਹ੍ਹਾਲੇਹਾਂ ॥

Rovah birhā ṯan kā āpṇā sāhib samĥālehāʼn.

Let us weep over the body’s separation from the Lord and Master; let us remember Him in contemplation.

ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਸਮ੍ਹ੍ਹਾਲਿਹ ਪੰਥੁ ਨਿਹਾਲਿਹ ਅਸਾ ਭਿ ਓਥੈ ਜਾਣਾ ॥

Sāhib samĥālih panth nihālih asā bẖė othai jāṇā.

Let us remember the Lord and Master in contemplation, and keep a watchful eye on the Path. We shall have to go there as well.

ਜਿਸ ਕਾ ਕੀਆ ਤਿਨ ਹੀ ਲੀਆ ਹੋਆ ਤਿਸੈ ਕਾ ਭਾਣਾ ॥

Jis kā kī▫ā ṯin hī lī▫ā ho▫ā ṯisai kā bẖāṇā.

He who has created, also destroys; whatever happens is by His Will.

ਜੋ ਤਿਨਿ ਕਰਿ ਪਾਇਆ ਸੁ ਆਗੈ ਆਇਆ ਅਸੀ ਕਿ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਕਰੇਹਾ ॥

Jo ṯin kar pā▫i▫ā so āgai ā▫i▫ā asī kė hukam karehā.

Whatever He has done, has come to pass; how can we command Him?
