As one prays sincerely to God, He takes over and treats you as His own.
“Haath de rakhe apne ko saas saas pritpaley” (Ang 682)

“Haath de rakhe kar apne sada sada rang maan” (Ang 619)

Similarly, in this Shabad Guru Ji tells us about God’s nature. He protects His sewaks. There are many evil persons in the world who wish ill of others and slander them terribly. As you take to Naam sincerely, God will protect you from all such papis and nindaks. God punishes the evil doers. We must not try to punish others by ourselves. We must leave the punishment to God. We must surrender to Him and pray for His protection.

It is God’s nature that He hugs His sewak close in His Embrace.
“Apne dass ko kanth lagaave.”

The slanderers are thrown into the fires.
“Nindak ko aggan me paave”

He saves His sewaks from all sinners.
“Paapi te rakhe Narayan”

Sinners cannot get liberation. They get destroyed by their own actions.
“Paapi ki gatt kathu nahi paapi pachiya aap kamaaiyan” (rahao).

In contrast with the sinner, the sewak is in love with God.
“Dass Ram jio laagi preet.”

The slanderer is in love with evil.
“Nindak ki hoyi bipreet.”

In response to sincere prayer, God reveals His innate nature (of protecting His sewaks).
“Parbrahm apna birdh pragtaeeaya.”

The evil doer obtains the fruit of his own actions.
“Dokhi apna kita paaiya.”

The Lord is ever present. He permeates and pervades all and everywhere.
“Aaye na jaaye rehiya samaaiye.”

It is the Sanctuary of such a Wondrous Lord that Nanak has taken.
“Nanak dass Har ki sharnaaiye.”
