Raag Sorath – Bhagat Ravidas Ji.

Bhagat Ji gives Divine Advice to those who do not take to Naam. Bhagat Ji also warns against wasting this precious life chasing after maya.

You have obtained this precious human life as a result of His Grace, but without wisdom, it is wasted in vain; without devotional worship to God, of what use are mansions and thrones like those of king Indra (king of the devas)?

“Dulabh janam punh falh paiyo birtha jaat abhibeke; rajey Indar samsar greh aasan bin Har bhagat kaho keh lekhay.”

You have not reflected upon the sublime essence of the Lord (His Name); which essence will cause you to forget all other (worldly) tastes.

“Na bichareyo Raja Ram ko rass; jeh rass ann rass bissar jahi.” (rahao).

Knowing all, yet we have become not bothered and have become insane, and do not ponder upon what we should consider, our days are fleeting by; our passions are strong, but our wisdom is weak and we do not access the Supreme Objective.

“Jaan ajaan bhaye ham baavar soch asoch divass jahi; eindri sabbal nibbal bibek budh parmarath parvesh nahi.”

We say one thing and do something else, entangled in endless maya, no understanding seeps in; Ravidas says, I am Your slave detached from all these, please be Merciful to me and spare me from Divine Wrath.

“Kahiyat aan achriat an kach samaj na parey apar maya; kahe Ravidas udaas daas mat parhar kope karo ji dya.”
