Raag Gujri M.3

A Slok from Gujri Ki Vaar M.3

Although Gurbani comes to us in written or printed form, Guru Ji says, in essence, it is Formless – Nirankaar. This Bani is from Dhur, Who is Nirankar Ji Himself.

In the Vaar, there are 9 Sloks by Guru Amardas Ji where the words “Waho” “Waho” are used. Hail!, Hail!, Glory be!, Glory be!.
Waho is an exclamation of Wonder and Awe. A gasp which escapes you as you see or read or hear of Something Fantastic.

Guru Amardas Ji expresses Wah Wah ( Praise, Joy and Wonder) at Gurbani. Guru Ji says Bani is in essence Nirankar Ji, Himself, the Formless One.
None is as Great or Potent as Bani.

Guru Ji says “Waho Waho, Bani is really the Formless Lord Himself, and there is no one as Great as Nirankar/Bani; this Lord is Unfathomable and Inaccessible, and He is the True One.

“Waho Waho Bani Nirankar hai Tis jevadh avar na koye; Waho Waho Aggam Athah hai Waho Waho Sacha Soye.”

Glory be, He is the Carefree Independent Lord, as He Wills, it comes to pass; Naam is Ambrosial Nectar, a rare person as a gurmukh obtains It.

“Waho Waho Veparvah hai Waho Waho kare so hoye; Waho Waho Amrit Naam hai gurmukh pavhe koye.”

Naam is received by effort and good fortune, when He Himself chooses to Grant His Grace; Nanak says, the gurmukhs who hold tight to Naam, night and day, receive Naam.

Guru Ji concludes the Slok that as the gurmukh recites His Name day and night, he Merges with the Wondrous Lord.

“Nanak Wah Wah gurmukh paaiyeh andin Naam leih.”

“Waho Waho karmi paaiyeh Aap Dya kar deh; Nanak Waho Waho gurmukh paayeh andinn Naam leh.”
