A Sikh acknowledges the Sovereignty of God. He is the Great Giver.

O Great Giver, God, may I never forget You; please give me Your Grace, that I may be colored by Your loving devotional worship; do grant me this Gift, that I may meditate upon You, day and night.

“Vissar nahi evadh Datey; kar kirpa Bhagtan sang ratey; dinnas rein Jio Tudh dhiaahee eh daan mohe karna Jio.”

In this blind clay You infused awareness; everything You have given is good; bliss, joy, wondrous plays, and revelments. Whatever Pleases You, comes to pass.

“Matee andhee surat samayee; sabh kich deyaa bhaliya jayee; anand binodh choj tamashe Tudh bhave so hona Jio.”

Everything we receive is a Gift from Him; the thirty six delicious foods we eat. (there are six main flavours. Sweet, sour, salty, tangy, bitter and pungent. As you combine these with each other, 6 × 6 = 36 flavours); including cozy beds, cooling breezes, peaceful joys, and other delights.

“Jis da ditta sabh kich lehna; chattih amrit bhojan khana; sejh sukhalee seetal pavnaa sahaj kelh rang karna Jio.”

Bless me with that understanding that I may never forget You; bless me with such thoughts by which I may meditate upon You; Nanak says, I sing Your Glorious Praises with every breath, my focus is on the Feet (Bani) of the Guru.

“Sa budh dijjay jit visrey nahi; sa matt dijjay jit Tudh dhiaahee; saas saas Tere Gunn gavha Ote Nanak Gur Charna Jio.”
