Raag Suhi Bhagat Ravidas Ji.

Bhagat Ji tells us about the duhagans – the jeev isteris who are distanced from the Lord. Bhagat Ji also describes the blessed Suhagans, the soul brides happily United with their Husband Lord. The Shabad ends with an ardas.

The blessed soul bride knows the worth of her Husband Lord; renouncing pride, she enjoys peace and bliss; she surrenders her mind and body to Him, and does not allow any distance to come in between; she does not see anyone else (besides the Lord), nor hear about others. (The word used is “abhakhay,” literally meaning corrupted talk i.e. praises of maya).

Saho ki saar Suhagan jaane; taj abhimaan rang raliya maane; tann mann de na antar rakhay; avra dekh na sunne abhakhay.”

Who can know the pain of others; if there is no pain (of separation from God), within herself?

“So katt jaane pidh parayee; ja ke antar dardd na payee.” (rahao).

The discarded bride is miserable, and loses out in both worlds (here and hereafter); she does not worship her Husband Lord deep within herself (nirantar means deep within the nucleus. It also means “lagataar” – continuously); (be warned), the bridge over the fires of hell is difficult and treacherous (pursalat refers to the bridge over hell. On judgement day, a Muslim has to walk over it. If he has done evil, he will fall into hell, and if he has spiritual honor, he will walk into heaven); no one will accompany you there, you will walk alone. (The word pursalat is used three times in SGGS ji).

“Dukhi duhagan doye pakh hinee; jin Nah nirantar bhagat na kinee; pursalat ka panth duhela; sang na sathee gavann ikela.”

Suffering in pain, I have come to Your Door, O Compassionate Lord; I have a great thirst for You, but I get no response; Ravidas says, I have taken Your Sanctuary; in whichever way it Pleases You, please save me.

“Dukhiya Dardwand Dar aaya; bahut pyaas jabaab na paaya; kahe Ravidas Sharan Prabh Teri; jio jaano tio kar gatt meri.”
