Guru Ji tells us the Shabad is our Protector. The Guru’s Shabad is Nirankar Himself.

“Vah Vah Bani Nirankar hai Tis jevad avar na koi.” (Ang 515).

The Shabad starts with a description of the Protective nature of the Guru’s Shabad. Any Shabad. The Shabad acts as a Protective Field around you on all four sides.

“Gur ka Shabad rakhvarey; Chauki chaugirdh hamarey.”

As the Lord’s Name (contained in the Shabad), touches your mind; the Messenger of death (miseries, difficulties, obstacles) runs away in shame.

“Ram Naam man lagaa; jam lajaaiye kar bhagaa”

God, You are my Giver of Peace; You are the Architect of Destiny who makes my mind pure and immaculate and cuts my bonds.

“Prabh Ji Tu mero Sukhdata; Bandhan kaat kare man nirmal Puran Purakh Bidhata.”

Nanak says the Lord is Imperishable; Service to Him will never go unrewarded; Your slaves are in bliss; reciting Your Name, all their desires are fulfilled.

“Nanak Prabh Abhinasee;
Ta Ki Sev na birthee jasee; Anand kare Tere dasa; Jap puran hoyi aasa.”
