Raag Sarangh M.4.

This Shabad is in partaal. The root word is taal – beat of the tabla. Partt means to change. You will find the bisraams (pauses) of this Shabad are different in each line. For example in the 1st line the bisraam is very short.

“Jap mann, Narhare Narhar Suami, Har sagaal dev deva, Sri Raam Raam Nama, Har Pritam mora.”

In the 2nd line, the bisraams are further apart. Thus the beat of the tabla will have to partaal – to beat with the longer rhythm of the bisraams in the 2nd line.

“Jit greh gunn gaavte, Har ke gunn gaavte, Raam gunn gaavte, tit greh vaje Panch Shabad, vadh bhaag mathora.”

In this Shabad, Guru Ji advises all Sikhs to recite His Name. Your sins will be erased and with Gur Parsad you can merge into the Timeless One.

O my mind recite the Lord’s Name, the Lord who is most Divine. Chant the Name of the most Beloved Lord.

“Jap mann Narhare Narhar Suami Har saggal dev Deva Sri Raam Raam Nama Har Pritam mora.” (rahao).

That household (body) in which the Glorious Praises of the Lord are sung there the five Primal Sounds resound (Anhad vajey) great is the destiny of one who lives in such a household.

“Jit greh gunn gavte Har ke gunn gaavte Raam gunn gaavte tit greh vajey Panch Shabad vadh bhaag mathora.”

All the sins of that humble being are erased, all pains are removed, all diseases are taken away, lust, anger, greed, attachment, egotism and pride are taken away. The Lord drives away the five thieves (vices) of such a humble person.

“Tin jan ke sabh paap gaye sabh dokh gaye sabh rogh gaye kaam krodh lobh moh abhimaan gaye tin jan ke Har maar kadhe panch chora.”

Chant the Name of the Lord O Saints of the Lord, meditate in thought deed and speech upon Him, O holy ones. Worship and adore the Lord O Saintly ones.

“Har Naam bol Har Sadhu Har ke jan Sadhu Jagdis japho mann bach karam Har Har aradhu Har ke jan Sadhu.”

Recite the Name of the Lord, the Lord, He will wipe out all your sins.

“Har Raam bol Har Raam bol sabh paap gavadhu.”

Be (spiritually) aware and awake daily and be in bliss reciting the Name of the Lord.

“Nit nit jagaran karho sada sada anand jap Jagdisora.”

Servant Nanak says, Your Saints obtain their mind’s desires and obtain all fruits and rewards including the four blessings and the Saints meet the Lord.

“Mann ishe fal pavho sabhe falh pavho dharam arth kaam mokh jan Nanak Har seyo milhe Har bhagat tora.”
