Raag Gauree – Gauri Sukhmani M.5, pada no. 8 of Astpadhi 12.

Astpadhi 12 tells us about haumai. It is subtle but very corrosive. It is a stubborn block to merger of your jeev with the Divine. The antidote to haumai is sewa of the Guru (Shabad) in utter humility, with no thought of reward – nishkaam sewa.

This is the final (8th) pada. This pada recounts the realization of a Sikh after removal of his ego. He now sees that the Lord is Eternal and only some rare ones who have received the Guru’s Grace speak of Him.

“Sat Sat Sat Prabh Suami; Gur Parsad kinne vakhianee.”

He is Sat – Eternal. His Creation is Sach – True and Real, but perishable. All that He Created is Real; but out of millions scarcely anyone deeply understands this.

“Sach Sach Sach sabh keena; kote maday kinne birley cheena ”

He is Formless. To give Darshan, there must be some Form. This is mostly in the Form of Jote, although He can give Darshan in any Form He chooses.
His Sublime Form is Most Beautiful; Exquisitely Lovely, Infinite and Incomparable.

“Bhala Bhala Bhala Tera Roop; Att Sundar Apaar Anoop.”

Your Bani is the Purest of the Pure; spoken to the ears and heard in each and every heart.

“Nirmal Nirmal Nirmal Teri Bani; ghat ghat sunni sarvan bakhiyani.”

Become Most Holy and Sublimely Pure; Nanak says, by reciting Naam lovingly in your mind.

“Pavitar Pavitar Pavitar Puneet; Naam japhe Nanak mann preet.”
