Raag Gauree – Gauri Sukhmani M.5.

This the 1st pada of Astpadhi 14. The central thrust of this pada is that your tek, your reliance, your hope, your support should only be upon God/Naam.

Know this that reliance on mortals is useless; the Great One Lord is the only Giver; by His Gifts, we get (true) satisfaction; and we suffer from the thirst (greed) no longer.

“Manukh ki tek birthee sabh jaan; devan ko Ekay Bhagvaan; jis ke diye rehay aghaaye; bahurh na trisna laage aaye.”

He alone destroys and preserves; nothing is in the hands of mortal beings; understanding His Divine Order, one gets peace; so take His Name and weave it into your necklace.

“Marey rakhey Eko Aap; manukh ke kich nahi haath; tis ka hukam boojh sukh hoye; tis ka Naam rakh kanth proye.”

Remember, remember, continuously remember the Lord; Nanak says, no obstacle shall ever block your path.

“Simar simar simar Prabh soye; Nanak biggan na laage koye.”
