Guru Ji tells us about the Prophets, the Satgurus and the Bhagats who come into this world to share Naam. They are free souls, but they generously come to this dimension to share the Words of God with human beings.

This is very different from the Hindu belief that God takes birth as Avtaars at certain time epochs to help the suffering humanity. Gurbani says God is “Ajooni” and never takes birth as ordinary mortals.

Blessed are Your Saints, their homes are filled with the Wealth of the Lord’s Name; their coming into this world is approved, and their actions are fruitful.

“Bhaagathray Har Sant Tumare jin ghar dhan Har Naama; parvaan ganni seyi eh aaye saffal tinna ke kaama.”

O my All Pervading Lord, I am a sacrifice to the humble servants of the Lord; I would make a fan with my hair and wave it respectfully over them, and apply the dust of their feet to my face.

“Mere Raam Har jann ke hao balh jayee; kesa ka kar chavar dhulaava charan dhurh mukh layee.” (rahao).

These humble beings are beyond birth and death. They come to spread charity and goodness in the world; they give the Gift to the soul (Naam) and inspire people to worship the Lord, and bless others to Unite with the Lord.

“Janam maran dohu me nahi jann parupkari aaye; jèe daan deh bhagti laaiyen Har seyo lehn milaaiye.”

True is their Rule, True is their Emperorship, and they are attuned to the True One; Eternal is their happiness, and True is their Glory. They are Enlightened about the Lord, to Whom they belong.

“Sacha Amar Sachi Paatshahi Sache seti raatey; Sacha Sukh Sachi Vadiaiyee Jis ke se Tin jaatey.”

I serve them by waving the fan over them, fetching water for them, and grinding corn for the humble servants of the Lord; Nanak’s prayer to God is this – may I be blessed to see Your humble servants.

“Pakha feri paani dhova Har jann ke peesan pees kamavha; Nanak ki Prabh paas benantee Tere jann dekhan paavha.”
