Raag Gauree (Gauri) M.5

Guru Ji tells of the blessings that flow as you take to Naam.

Firstly, you must realise that you are reciting Naam because God has showered His Grace upon you. There should be a sense of gratitude that you are doing Naam (you could be walking barefoot, fasting, depending on eclipses for luck, trying to appease all kinds of devi devas and spirits). It is a great blessing upon you if you take to Naam.

“Ja ko apni kirpa dharey; so jann rasna Naam ucharey.”

Forgetting the Lord, superstition and sorrow will overtake you; as you meditate upon Naam, doubt and fear shall depart.

“Har bisrat sahsa dukh biapey; simrat Naam bharam bhao bhaggey.”(rahao).

As one listens to Kirtan (Praises of the Lord), and sings the Lord’s Kirtan; misfortune shall not come near you.

“Har Kirtan sunhey Har Kirtan gavhey tis jann dukh nikatt nahi aave.”

As they do the Lord’s service, His humble servants look beautiful; the fires of maya do not scorch them.

“Har ki tehal kartt jann sohey; ta ko maya aggan na pohey.”

The Name of the Merciful Lord is within their minds, bodies and mouths; Nanak says they give up all other entanglements.

“Mann tann mukh Har Naam Dyal; Nanak tajialey avar janjall.”
