Raag Sorath M.5

We suffer from all kinds of ailments. Gurbani tells us the physical signs of disease we see are really deep rooted, arising from our own karmas.

At Angg 1256, Guru Ji tells us when we forget the Lord and indulge in worldly pleasures, (i.e we do some karmas), diseases well up on the physical body.

“Khasam vissar kiye rass bhog; ta tann uth khaloye rogh.”

In this Shabad, Guru Ji tells us that only Naam can delve deep within you, and cut the root of the rogh.
Karmas are created by “mann bach karam” i.e. by the mind, our speech, and our physical actions.

A Sikh who has experienced the power of Naam, expresses his joy at the curative powers of Naam.

God dispels the pain of countless incarnations, and gives Support to the dry and shrivelled mind; as one reflects upon His Name, he gets blessed and is wonderstruck by Darshan of the Lord.

“Janam janam ke dukh nivaare sukaa mann sadhaare; Darshan bhetat hote nihaala Har ka Naam bichaare.”

My Physician is the Guru (Shabad), the Lord of the Universe; He places the Medicine of Naam in my mouth and cuts away the noose of death (miseries).

“Mera Baidh Guru Govinda; Har Har Naam aukhad mukh devhe kaate jamm ki phaanda.” (rahao).

He is the All Powerful Perfect Lord, the Architect of Destiny. He Himself does all deeds; Nanak says by giving the Support of Naam, the Lord Himself saves His slave.

“Samrath Purakh Puran Bidhatey Aape Karnehaara; Aapna daas Har Aap ubaareya Nanak Naam adhaara.”
