Raag Malaar M.5

After receiving Divine Instruction from the Satguru through Gurbani, a Sikh now instructs his mind and pleads for Union with God. Being a Shabad from Raag Malaar, the theme of water and dousing of fire is present throughout the Shabad.

” pyaas,” “pijjay,” “traihe traihe,” “jalto.”

O my mind, dwell on the Feet of the Lord (Gurbani); my mind is enticed by thirst for the blessed Vision of the Lord. If only the Lord would bless me with wings to fly and meet Him.

“Mann mere Har ke Charan ravijay; daras pyaas mero mann mohiyo Har pankh lagaaiye milije.” (rahao).

I searched and searched and was put on the Path and I now serve the holy Guru; as my Master grants me His Grace, my mind drinks in the Sublime Essence of Naam.

“Khojat khojat marag paaiyo Sadhu sev karije; dhar anugroh Suami mere Naam maha rass pije.”

Begging and pleading I have come to Your Sanctuary. I am on fire, please shower me with Your Mercy; Nanak says, please hold Your servant by Your Hands, and make me Your Own.

“Traihe traihe kar Sharni aaye jalto kirpa kijjay; kar geh leho daas Aapne ko Nanak Aapno kijjay.”
