Guru Ji advises all Sikhs to place their reliance only upon Naam. Naam will resolve all their affairs. Reliance upon humans is of no use on the spiritual journey.

Reliance on mortals is useless; O Lord and Master, You are my only Support.

“Birtha bharvasa lok; Thakur Prabh Teri tek.”

I have broken off from all other hopes; I have met the Carefree Lord, Master and Treasure of all virtues.

“Avar tutti sabh aas; Thakur Prabh bhetay Guntaas.”

Meditate upon the One Name, O my mind; your affairs shall be resolved by singing the Praises of the Lord.

“Eko Naam dhiaye mann mere; karaj tera hovay pura Har Har Har gunn gaaye mann mere.” (rahao).

You alone are the Doer and the Cause; Lord, Your Lotus Feet (Bani) are my Sanctuary; in my mind and body I meditate only upon Him; the Blissful Lord reveals His Form (Jote).

“Tum hi Kaaran Karan; Charan Kamal Har Sharan; mann tann Har ohi dhiaaeya; Anand Har roop dikhaaeya.”

I always seek His Support; the Creator of all beings; meditation upon the Lord brings His Treasure; in the final hour He is Your Savior.

“Tis hi ki Ote sadeev; ja ke kinne hai jeev; simrat Har kartt nidhaan; Rakhanhaar nidhan.”

Be the dust of the feet of all (live in humility); eradicate your self conceit and merge into the Lord; meditate on Naam day and night; Nanak says, this is the most fruitful occupation.

“Sarab ki rein hovijay; aap mitaaiye milije; andinn dhiaiye Naam; safal Nanak eh kaam.”
