Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji tells us it is pointless to search for God in the jungles, or some quiet place far from the tumult of the world. He is in everyone, including you. Look for Him within yourself.

Why do you go looking for Him in the forest?; He is detached from all, dwells everywhere, and is permeating every pore of your being as your companion.

“Kahe re bann khojan jayee; sarab nivasee sada alepa tohee sang samayee.” (rahao).

Like the fragrance, which remains hidden in the flower, and like the reflection you see in a mirror; similarly, does the Lord dwell deep within the nucleus of your own heart.

“Pohpp madh jio baas bastt hai mukar mahe jaisey chayee; taise hi Har bassey Nirantar khat hi khojo bhai.”

Know that within you and outside, there is only One Lord. This wisdom has been imparted by the Guru; servant Nanak says, without examining your inner self, the dross of delusion cannot be removed.

“Bahar bhitar Eko janho eh Gur gyan batayee; jan Nanak bin apaa chinay mitay na bhram ki kayee.”
