Raag Gauree – Slok M.5 from Gauri Ki Vaar M.5

This is the 2nd Slok before the 1st pauri of the Vaar.
A Sikh prays that the Holy Guest, the Lord, comes to abide in his inner home.

I wake up in the early hours of the morning, praying that the Holy Guest will bless me by coming to my (inner) home; I will wash His Feet (in reverence), He will be most pleasing (bring blessings) to my mind and body.

“Bhalke uth Paraohna mere ghar aavho; Paoo pakhala Tis ke mann tann nitt bhaavho.”

I hear His Name (Attributes), I gather in His Naam, and lovingly attune myself to His Naam; my home and all my wealth gets sanctified as I sing His Praises.

“Naam sunhe Naam sangrhe Naame liv laavho; greh dhan sabh pavitar hoye Har ke gunn gaavho.”

Nanak says, it is by great good fortune that one becomes a Trader in the Lord’s Name.

“Har Naam vapaari Nanaka vadbhaagi paavho.”
