Raag Kanrah M.5

A Sikh takes a hard look at himself. He finds he is full of faults and prays to be saved.

I am sinfully filthy, hard hearted, deceitful, and obsessed with lustful desires; as You see fit, please ferry me across.

“Kuchal kathor kapatt kaami; jio jaane tio taar Suami.” (rahao).

You are All Powerful (Capable), and Potent to grant Sanctuary, and You save us by Exerting (Extending) Your Protective Power.

“Tu Samrath Sharan Jogh Tu Raakhe Aapni Kal Dhaar.”

(I now know) salvation does not come by mere recitation, penances, disciplines and austerities. (It needs Your Grace too).

“Jaap taap nem such sanjam nahi ein bidhe chutkaar.”

Nanak prays, Lord, please lift me out of this deep, dark ditch, by Your Glance of Grace.

“Garatt ghor andh te kadho Prabh Nanak nadar nihaar.”
