A lovely Shabad from Raag Dhanaasree (Dhanasree).

SGGS Angg 673.

Guru Arjun Dev Ji.

A Sikh recounts his sewa of the Satguru and pleads to be blessed with the Guru’s matt.

The Sikh says I am engaged in sewa. I carry water, wave the fan and grind corn for the Saints (Satguru). I sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord of the Universe.

“Paani pakha piso Sant aggay gunn Gobind jass gayee.”

Every breath with which I remember Him, I find treasures of peace.

“Saas saas mann Naam samare eh bisraam nidh paaye”

Bless me with Your Mercy O Lord and Master.

“Tum karo dya mere saayi”

Bless me with such understanding that I may forever be engaged in loving meditation on You.

“Aisee matt dijjay mere Thakur sada sada tudh dhiayee” (rahao)

It is only with Your Grace that my attachments and ego will be eradicated and my doubts dispelled.

“Tumri kirpa te moh maan chute binass jaye bhramayee”

And I will then be able to see the Embodiment of Bliss and see Him wherever I go.

“Anand roop raviho sabh madhe jatt katt pekho jaaye”

O Lord, You are Kind and Compassionate, the Treasure of Mercy, the Purifier of all sinners.

“Tum dyaal kirpal kirpa nidh patat paavan Gosain”

Reciting Your Name even for an instant blesses me with millions of joys, comforts and kingdoms.

“Kot sukh anand raaj paaye mukh te nimakh bulaiye”

Only that recitation, effort and worship is Perfect which is pleasing to Your Mind.

“Jaap taap bhagat sa puree jo Prabh ke man bhayee”

Chanting Your Name all my desires have been extinguished; Nanak is fully satisfied and fulfilled.

“Naam japat trisna sabh bujee hai Nanak tripat aghayee”
