Raag Tukhari M.1.

Shantt by Guru Nanak Dev Ji.

The jeev isteri pleads with her Husband Lord. You dwell in the nijh ghar, in the nirantar jote, in the daswa dwar, while I roll about in the dust.

“Sun Nah pyare ek benanti meri; tu nijh ghar vasearha hao rull bhasmay dheri”

I know no one truly loves me besides my Beloved Husband Lord; what can I do or say now, I am helpless.

“Bin apne Nahe koyi na chahe kya kahiye kya kijjaye.”

(To reach You), I drink in Amrit Naam, the sweetest of Nectars through the Guru’s Shabad; with my tongue I drink in this Nectar.

“Amrit Naam rasan rass rasnaa Gur Shabdi rass pijey.”

Without Naam there can be no Friend or Companion; millions come and go in reincarnation.

“Vin Nave ko Sang na Sathee aave jaiye ghaneri.”

(As Naam abides in you), Nanak says the jeev returns to its True Home with profits; True are Your Teachings.

“Nanak laha leh ghar jaaiye Sachi Sach matt Teri.”
