Raag Gauree (Gauri) M.5

A jeev isteri makes a heart wrenching plea to meet the Lord. She goes into deep introspection and asks her inner self – O mother, what virtues must I possess before I can meet the Lord?.

“Kavan gunn Pranpatt milho meri mayi.”(rahao).

I have no beauty, understanding or strength. I am a stranger from far away; I am not wealthy, nor youthful. I am an orphan, ( i.e. one who no longer has any family bondages), please unite me with Yourself.

“Roop heen budh balh heeni mohe pardesan durr te aayi; nahin darab na joban mati mohe anath ki karo samayi.”

Searching and searching for Him I have become drenched with love for Him and detached from the world. I thirst for His Blessed Darshan; Nanak says, the Compassionate Lord, Merciful to the lowly, led me to Sadhsanggat (company of the holy ones) and my burning thirst was quenched.

“Khojat khojat bheyi berragan Prabh Darshan ko hao firat tissayi; Deen Dyal Kirpal Prabh Nanak Sadhsang meri jallan bujhayi.”
