Raag Malaar – Bani Bhagat Ravidas Ji.

A Sikh poses a question. With what devotional practice can I meet the Beloved Lord, Master of my very breath of life?

“Millat Pyaro Pran Naath kavan bhagat te.”

Bhagat gives the answer in the second line. In the Sadhsanggat, the Supreme Status (Plane, Avastha) can be obtained.

“Sadhsanggat payee param gatay.” (rahao).

The Sikh goes into deep inner reflection.

How much longer can I keep on washing these dirty (karmic) clothes (of bondage)?; when I am (spiritually) sleepy (because of maya moh), how long shall I remain in slumber (of spiritual ignorance)?

“Maileh kapre kaha lao dhovho; aavegi neend kaha lagg sovho.”

Whatever I attached myself to has perished (been torn to shreds); the shop of false merchandise has shut down. (the body has lost its vitality, and the attractions of maya have faded and I am no longer able to function).

“Joyee joyee jorhiyo soyee soyee phattiyo; jhuthe banaj uth hi gayee haatiyo.”

Bhagat Ji concludes by telling the Sikh.

Ravidas says, when you are called to give accounts; exactly whatever was done by you, you shall see (for yourself).

“Kaho Ravidas bheyo jab lekho; joyee joyee kinno soyee soyee dekhiyo.”
