Sikh history says Bhai Sangatia and a few other Sikhs met Guru Ramdas Ji and posed many questions about the spiritual journey, and how one could meet God. Guru Ji gave answers in full sanggat. At the end Guru Ji summed up the entire session and spoke this Shabad.

Tell me, on which path will I find my Beauteous Lord; O Saints of the Lord (Satguru Ji), show me the way and I shall follow.

“Mero Sundar kaho milhe kit galli; Har ke Sant batavo marag ham piche laag chali.” (rahao).

The Guru replies – the best way is to cherish the Words (have love for Gurbani) of the Beloved; the bride may be hunch- backed and short, but if she becomes pleasing to the Master, she becomes beautiful as she melts in the Lord’s Embrace.

“Pria ke Bachan sukhane hiarey eh chaal bani hai bhali; latori madhuri Thakur bhayee oh sundar Har dholh milhi.”

There is only One Beloved, we are all soul brides of our Husband Lord, she is blessed who is pleasing to Her Husband Lord; Poor Nanak says, what can I do, I move in the direction He Wills.

“Eko Pria sakhiyan sabh Pria ki jo bhave Pir sa bhali; Nanak gareeb kya kare bichara Har bhave tith rahe chali.”
