Raag Gauree/Majh (Gauri) M.5

As is common with Shabads of Raag Majh which is mixed with Raag Gauree here, the Shabad has no rahao and the word “jio” appears in every line. The Shabad has 4 padas. This is the 1st pada.

A Sikh expresses joy at being blessed with Naam, and love for God. It all happens internally in his mind.

In my mind, within my mind itself, I am drenched with love for God; just having love for God is not enough, (my translation differs from that found on the net), the Perfect Guru (Shabad) has led me to see the Unseen (Indescribable) Lord.

“Mann mahi mann mahi mere Govinda Har rang ratta mann mahi jio; Har rang naal na lakhiye mere Govinda Gur Pura Alakh lakhayi jio.”

The Name of the Lord has become manifest O my Lord, all my poverty and pain have departed; I have been blessed to receive the Supreme Status (avastha, dimension, plane) O my Lord, I have been absorbed into His Name (Attributes, Jote).

“Har Har Naam pargaseiya mere Govinda sabh daladh dukh leh jahi jio; Har padh uttam paaya mere Govinda vadhbhagi Naam samaahi jio.”
