Guru Ji stresses the need for tek on God. Reliance on anyone else or anything besides His Name, leads to bondages.

No one is anyone’s companion, why take pride (in knowing others)?; with the Support of His One Name, you can cross the world ocean.

“Koye na kis hi sang kahe garbiye; Ek Naam adhaar bhaujal tarbiye.”

O Perfect Guru, I am a poor mortal, You are my True Support; gazing upon Your Blessed Darshan the faith in my mind is firmly entrenched.

“Mai gareeb Sach tek Tu mere Satgur Puray; dekh Tumara Darshano mera mann dhiray.” (rahao).

Royal powers, wealth and worldly entanglements are of no use (on the spiritual journey); singing Praises of the Lord is the True Everlasting Support.

“Raaj maal janjaal kaaj na kitay ganno; Har Kirtan adhaar nichal eh dhanno.”

As many as are the pleasures of maya, so many are the shadows they leave; the Gurmukhs sing the Naam, the Treasure of Peace.

“Jetey maya rang tet pechaveiya; sukh ka Naam Nidhaan Gurmukh gaaveiya.”

O Deep and Unfathomable Lord, You are the True Lord, the Treasure of Excellence; the Lord Master is the Support and hope of Nanak’s being.

“Sacha Gunni Nidhan Tu Prabh Gahir Gambire; aas bharosa Khasam ka Nanak ke jiare.”
