Raag Sri Raag M.5

The Shabad starts with emphasis that we should have our tek only on the One Lord. The rest of the Shabad tells us of the berkat/blessings which flow with the Grace of the Guru, when we lovingly rely only on Shabads/Gurbani.

All things are attained if the One Lord allows Himself to be lovingly captivated by you; the precious gift of this human life becomes fruitful if one recites the True Shabad. If one has such destiny written on his forehead, with the Guru’s Grace, he enters the Palace of the Lord’s Presence.

“Sabhe thoke paraptey je aave Eik hath; janam padarath safal hai je Sacha Shabad kath; Gur te Mahal paraptey je likhiya hovay math.”

O my mind, focus only on the One; besides the One (Lord), all entanglements are worthless and all attachments to maya are false (perishable, short lasting).

“Mere mann Ekass seyo chit laaye; Ekass bin sabh thandh hai sabh mithiya moh maaye.” (Rahao).

You receive hundreds of thousands of joys and kingdoms if the True Guru bestows His Glance of Grace upon you; as He bestows Naam even for an instant, my mind and body are cooled and soothed; those who have such destiny written earlier (i.e. they have been doing Naam kamayee), hold tight to the Feet (Bani) of the Guru.

“Lakh khushiyan patshahiyan je Satgur nadar kare; nimakh Ek Har Naam de mera mann tann seetal hoye; jin ko purab likhiya tin Satgur Charan gahe.”

Fruitful is that moment, fruitful is that time when one has love for the True Lord; suffering and misery do not touch those who have the Support of the Name; grasping him by the arm, the Guru lifts him out (of the world ocean) and ferries him across.

“Safal murat safala ghari jit Sache naal pyar; dukh santaap na lagaaiye jis Har ka Naam adhar; baha pakad Gur kadeiya soyee utreiya paar.”

Immaculate and Pure is that place where the Saints congregate; he alone finds Support who has found the True Guru; Nanak has built his house on that site where there is no death, birth or old age.

“Thaan suhava pavit hai jithe Sant Sabha; dhoyee tis hi nu milhe jin Pura Guru labha; Nanak badha ghar taha jithe mirat na janam jara.”
