Raag Ramkali – Slok from Ramkali Ki Vaar M.5.

A conversation between two satsangans. One is struggling to rise higher whilst the other one is already coloured with love for God.

She tells the struggling one. O pretty doe eyed damsel let me tell you some truths which will benefit you.

“Harnakhi ku sach vain sunaiyee jo tou kare sudharan.”

Listen to these sweet words of wisdom which will instruct your mind.

“Sundar bachan tum suno chabili Pir tenda man sadharan.”

You have fallen in love with evil mindedness: tell me why?

“Durjan seti neho rachaieyo dass vikha mai kaaran.”

You lack nothing; neither are you depressed nor do you have any other deficiencies.

“Ooni nahi jhooni nahi nahi kissay vihuni.”

You have lost the Fascinating Debonair Lord; you have bad mindedness and have lost your good fortune.

“Pir shaill chabilaa chadh gavaiyho durmat karam vihunee.”

She puts up a weak defence and says I have done no wrong, nor commited mistakes nor am I to be blamed.

“Na hao bhuli na hao chuki na hao nahi dosha.”

He has driven me to act like this.

“Jit hao layee titt hao lagee tu sun sach sandesa.”

She tries to put the blame on her lack of Grace. That is a bad defence. Whatever we suffer is due to our karmas. We cannot blame lack of Grace for our misfortunes. It is our good actions which lead to Grace with Gur Parsad. She says…

“Sayee suhagan sayee bhaggan jai Pir kirpa dharee.”

(In the case of such a blessed jeev isteri), the Husband Lord erases all her faults and mistakes. He hugs her close in Embrace, and cleanses her (decorates her with Gunn).

“Pir avgann tis ke sabh gavahe galh seti layeh sawaree.”

Nanak says, the unfortunate one pleads, when will my turn (to be in His Embrace) ever come?; all blessed bride souls Sport in joy, O Lord, Destroyer of ego, please bless me with just one night of such bliss.

“Karamheen dhan kare benantee kadh Nanak aave varee; sabh suhagan maane reliya ek devho raat Muraree.”

(my translation is very different from that found on the net, especially the last 6 lines).
