Guru Ji tells us how blessed are those places (and bodies), where Naam is recited.

Where the Naam of the Beloved Lord is chanted; those barren places become mansions of gold.

“Jithey Naam japiye Prabh Pyare; se asthall soenn chaubarey.”

Where Naam of the Lord is not recited, those towns turn into barren wilderness.

“Jithey Naam na japiye mere Goenda soyee nagar ujarhee jio.”

One who meditates as he eats dry bread (simple food); sees the Lord, inwardly, and outwardly; know this, that one who eats and eats, while practicing evil is like a field of poisonous plants.

“Har rukhi roti khaye samaley; Har antar bahar nadar nihaley; khaye khaye kare badfailee jaan visu ki varhee jio.”

One who does not feel love for the Saints (Guru); does evil in the company of wicked saakats (those who chase after energies of maya); he wastes his precious human body and in his ignorance tears up his own roots.

“Santa seti rang na laaye; sakat sang vikaram kamaye; dulabh deh khoyee agianee jarh apni aap uparhee jio.”

I have taken Your Sanctuary, Merciful to the downtrodden; You are the Ocean of Peace, my Guru, Sustainer of the world; shower Your Mercy upon Nanak that I may sing Your Glories. Please preserve my honor and dignity.

“Teri Sharan mere Deen Dyalaa; Sukh Saagar mere Gur Gopalaa; kar Kirpa Nanak gunn gavhe rakho saram asaarhee jio.”
