Raag Sorath – Pauri no. 24 from Sorath Ki Vaar M.4

As each Vaar nears conclusion, you will find Sloks and Pauris which speak of Darshan and Grace. In this Slok, the Sikh is full of joy, and expresses his gratitude that he has been blessed with Naam and has met the Lord with the Grace of the Satguru.
(My translation of the pauri is quite different from that on the net. I have translated it in the present tense, whilst the net treats the pauri as a plea which has yet to be fulfilled, except the last two lines).

It was the Kindness of the Lord that I took to reciting His Bani; (it was due to His Kindness that) I meditated upon the Name, chanted His Name, and received blessings (profits from the Lord’s Name).

“Har Har Apni Dya kar Har boli Behni; Har Naam dhiaiyee Har uchra Har laha lehni.”

I am a sacrifice to those who chant the Name of the Lord, day and night; may I gaze with my eyes upon those humble ones who worship and adore my Beloved True Guru (Shabad).

“Jo japde Har Har dinnas raat tin hao kurbehni; jinna Satgur mera Pyara aradhiya tin jann dekha naini.”

I am eternally grateful to my Guru who United me with my Friend the Lord, my best Friend.

“Hao variaya apne Guru ko jin mera Har Sajjan meliya Saini.”
