Raag Todee (Todi) M.4
A Shabad describing the experiences of a Sikh in bairaag avastha. Realisation has set in trigerring pangs of yearning for Union.
The Sikh says my mind cannot live (find peace) without the Lord; if my Guru unites me with my Beloved Lord, who is my very breath of life, I can be spared from the wheel of reincarnation in this terrifying world ocean.
“Har bin reh na sakey mann mera; mere Pritam praan Har Prabh Gur meley bahur na bhavjall fera.” (rahao).
My heart is drenched with a yearning that I may be blessed to behold my Lord God; the Merciful True Guru has implanted the Lord’s Name within me, and shown me the Pathway leading to God.
“Mere hiarey loch laggi Prabh keri Har nainho Har Prabh hera; Satgur Dyal Har Naam dhrirhaeya Har Padar Har Prabh kera.”
Through the Lord’s Love I have found the Name of God, the Lord of the Universe; the Lord seems sweet to my heart, mind and body. Upon my face and forehead, a good destiny has been inscribed.
“Har rangee Har Naam Prabh paaya Har Govind Har Prabh kera; Har hirday mann tann meetha laaga mukh mastak bhaag changera.”
Those whose minds are attached to sin and greed, forget the Lord, the Gracious Primal Lord; these self willed manmukhs become reputed as foolish and ignorant. Misfortune and bad destiny gets written on their foreheads.
“Lobh vikaar jinna mann laaga Har visreya Purakh changera; oye manmukh murh abhimanee kahiye tinn mastak bhaag mandera.”
From the Satguru I have obtained a discriminating intellect. The Guru has blessed me with Spiritual Wisdom of God; servant Nanak has received Naam from the Guru (Shabad), such is the destiny inscribed upon his forehead.
“Bibek budh Satgur te payee Gur Gyan Guru Prabh kera; jan Nanak Naam Guru te payaa dhur mastak bhaag lakhera.”
