Shalok Vaaran Tay Vadheek

Slok M.4.

Slok no. 27, M.4.

Guru Ji tells us about the blessings of Naam/Satsanggat, and being in the company of holy Sikhs.

The Satguru meditates upon the Primal Lord, and loves the Satsanggat; the Satsanggat serves the Satguru, and the Guru (Shabad) Unites them with the Lord.

“Satgur Purakh Har dhiaayenda Satsanggat Satgur bhaaye; Satsanggat Satgur sevhde Har melay Gur milaiye.”

This world is a terrifying ocean, the Satguru is the Boat of Naam which ferries you across; the Sikhs of the Guru accept the Lord’s Will, and the Perfect Guru (Shabad), carries them across.

“Eh bhavjal jagat sansar hai Gur Bohith Naam taraiye; Gursikhi bhana manniya Gur Pura paar langaaiye.”

O Lord, please bless me with the dust of the feet of the Guru’s Sikhs (bless me with humility and holy company), that sinners like me may also be saved; those who have great destiny written on their forehead by the Lord, Guru Nanak comes to meet them.

“Gursikha ki Har dhurh deh ham paapi bhi gatt paaye; Dhur mastak Har Prabh likhiya Gur Nanak miliya aaye.”

The messenger of death is beaten and driven away and we are saved in the Lord’s Court; blessed indeed are the Guru’s Sikhs whom the Lord Blends, and Unites with Himself.

“Jamkankar maar bidariyan Har Dargeh leh chadaiye; Gursikha nu shabass hai Har tutha melh milaaiye.”
