Guru Ji tells us about the blessings which flows from loving recitation of the Lord’s Name. With the Grace of the Satguru, His Name transforms evil persons into saints.

Those who recite in their minds the Shabads of the Beloved Lord in Satsanggat, their minds are filled with joy and fascination; recite the Lord’s Name and meditate upon the Lord who Gives Gifts to all.

“Govind Govind Pritam mann Pritam milh Satsanggat Shabad mann mohe; jap Govind Govind dhiaayeh sabh ko daan deh Prabh Ohe.”

O my brothers, the Lord brings joy and fascinates my mind; I sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord, joining the holy society of the Guru, your humble servant receives dignity and honor.

“Mere bhai janna mo ko Govind Govind Govind mann mohe; Govind Govind Govind Gunn gaava mil Sadhsanggat jan sohe.” (Rahao).

In devotional worship through the Guru’s Teachings to the Lord, the Ocean of Peace, you find maya and spiritual powers fall at your feet; for the humble servant of the Lord, Naam is his support (not maya or spiritual powers), he recites the Lord’s Name and he gets adorned with the Lord’s Name (Attributes).

“Sukh Saagar Har Bhagat hai gurmatt kaula ridh sidh laage pagg ohe; jan ko Raam Naam adhara Har Naam japatt Har Namay sohe.”

The evil minded unfortunate shallow minded ones feel anger in their minds when they hear the Name of the Lord; you may place Ambrosial nectar in the mouths of crows and ravens, but they will get satisfaction only by eating and putting manure and dung in their mouths.

“Durmatt bhagheen matt fikay Naam sunnat aave mann rohe; kauva kaag ko amrit rass paiyeh tripte vista khaye mukh gohe.”

The True Guru (Shabad), the Embodiment of Truth is the Pool of Ambrosial Nectar and bathing in it, the crow (evil person) transforms into a swan (saintly person); Nanak says, blessed blessed are those very fortunate ones who through the Guru’s Teachings wash away the filth in their hearts.

“Amrit Sar Satgur Satvadi jit natte kauva hans hohe; Nanak dhan dhan vadde vadbhagee jin Gurmatt Naam ridhay malh dhohe.”
