SGGS Angg 606.

Raag Sorath M.4.

The Gurus and the Bhagats have stressed many times in SGGS Ji, that God is the Real Doer. It is our haumai which makes us think we are doing things. Our maya mamta becomes a block to us, and we cannot see the Reality of things happening to us and around us. Once the ego is eroded, and the parda removed, you realize and see that everything is really done by Him, and even the circumstances leading to a situation are put in place by Him. (“Aape banatt banaiyee..”)

Guru Ramdas Ji especially, has many Shabads which stress that the Real Doer is God Himself. The pauris in Bihagara Ki Vaar M.4 emphasize this again and again. Guru Ji tells us even the Satsanggat we attend, God Himself brings us there, and sends us off.

“Aape sanggat sadh bahaley Aape vida karavey.” (Ang 550)

In a similar vein, Guru Ji has a cluster of Shabads in Raag Sorath which speak of God as the True Doer. Guru Ji starts with the beginnings of creation.

The Beloved Himself created the Universe, and the sun and the moon; the Beloved Himself is the power of the powerless, and the honor of the lowly ones  in His Mercy, the All Wise and All Knowing Beloved protects us.

“Aape shrist upaeyda Pyara kar suraj chand chanaan; Aap nitaaniya taan hai Pyara Aap nimaaniya maan; Aap Dya kar rakhda Pyara Aape Sugarh Sujaan.”

O my mind recite the Name of the All Pervading Lord, which is His Insignia (Proof of His Sovereignty and Presence); join the Satsanggat and meditate upon Him and you shall not have to come and go in reincarnation again.

“Mere mann jap Raam Naam Nisaan; Satsanggat milh dhiaye tu Har Har bahurh na aavan jaan.” (rahao).

The Beloved Himself manifests His Attributes and Himself approves them; the Beloved Himself grants His forgiveness and Himself bestows the Mark of Truth; the Beloved Himself enforces His Hukam, and He Himself issues His Commands.

“Aape hi gunn vartadaa Pyara Aape hi parvaan; Aape baksh karayenda Pyara Aape Sach Nishaan; Aape Hukam vartadaa Pyara Aape hi Furmaan.”

The Beloved Himself is the Treasure of Devotion and Himself bestows His Gifts; the Beloved Himself puts one to His Service, and Himself blesses them with honor; the Beloved Himself gets absorbed in meditation and is Himself the Treasure of Excellence.

“Aape bhagat bhandar hai Pyara Aape devey daan; Aape sev karaieyanda Pyara Aape divaveh maan; Aape tarhi laaiyenda Pyara Aape Gunni Nidhaan.”

The Beloved Himself is the Greatest, and He Himself is Supreme, the Beloved Himself places value on things, and He Himself is the Scale and the Weights; the Beloved Himself weighs the Unweighable and servant Nanak is forever a sacrifice unto Him.

“Aape vadda Aap hai Pyara Aape hi Pardhaan; Aape keemat paiyenda Pyara Aape Tolh Parvaan; Aape atolh tolaieynda Pyara jan Nanak sadh kurbaan.”
