Raag Suhi

A Sikh recounts his journey. He came to God’s Sharan as guided by the Guru. Lots of cleansing took place, and the Guru’s matt seeped in displacing his earlier manmatt. Eventually he was blessed to Unite with the Perfect Lord.

I came to You, to Your Sanctuary; I came with faith in You, and Your Grace brought me to You. (I surrendered to You and said) as it Pleases You, do save me my Lord and Master. It was my Guru who placed me on Your Path.

“Tao mai aaya Sharni aaya; bharose aaya kirpa aaya; jio bhave tio rakho Suami marag Gurhe pathaaiya.” (rahao).

Maya was very treacherous and difficult to overcome. It was like a voilent wind storm.

“Maha duttar maya; jaise pavan chulaaiya.”

I was terrified as I listened to tales of the sternness of the Righteous Judge, Dharam Raj.

“Sunn sunn hi daraaiya; kararo Dharamraiya.”

The world was a deep dark pit; and it was all on fire.

“Greh andh koopaiya; paavak sagraaiya.”

I grasped the Support of the holy Saints (Guru); Nanak says, I meditated upon the Lord; and now I have found the Perfect Lord.

“Gahee ote Sadhaaiya; Nanak Har dhiaaieya; abh mai Pura paaiya.”
