Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s Slok from Asa Ki Vaar.

Many philosophers in India had spread their teachings that the world was false, and thus one should shun it and not participate in it. If you participated, you created karmas, and would become subject to lekhas. Many became sanyasis and became recluses, some became monis, refusing to speak as that was considered participating.

Guru Nanak Dev Ji did not agree with that. Even if you went to the jungles and isolated yourself, that itself was a karma, and one could never break off from the world.

“Jorh na jugtee chutay sansaar.” (Japji Sahib).

Instead, so long as one lived in the world, one should engage in some useful honest activity. At Angg 660, Guru Ji says,

“Jab lagg duniya rehiye Nanak kich suniye kich kahiye.”

Guru Ji said one must participate by acquiring gunn from the Satguru, doing Naam, and sewa, and as Naam seeps into you, you would find you had detached from the world. As Bhagat Kabir Ji says.

“Heera haath chadeya nirmolak choot gayee sansari” (Ang 1123).

So, the Guru’s Teaching is, the world is Sach (True) but it is short lived and transitory – “jio supna aur pekhna aisay jag ko jaan.”

In this Slok, Guru Ji tells us about the Sach (real) aspect of Creation.

Your worlds are True and so are Your solar systems; True are Your realms and Your Creation; True are Your actions and Your deliberations; True is Your Authority and True is Your Court; True is Your Cosmic Order and True is Your Command; True is Your Mercy and True is Your Insignia of Acceptance.

“Sache Tere khand Sache brahmand; Sache Tere loa Sache akaar; Sache Tere karne sarab bichaar; Sacha Tera amar Sacha dibaan; Sacha Tera Hukam Sacha furmaan; Sacha Tera karam Sacha nishaan.”

Hundreds and thousands of millions say You are True; the True Lord has all power and all might; True is Your Praise and True is Your adoration; True is Your almighy creative power O True King; Nanak says, True are those who meditate on the True One; those who die, only to be reborn are totally false.

“Sache Tudh aakhe lakh karorh; Sache sabh taan Sache sabh jorh; Sachi Teri sifat Sachi salaah; Sachi Teri kudrat Sache Patshah; Nanak Sach dhiayen Sach; jo marh jamme so kach nikach.”
