Raag Suhi – Bhagat Ravidas Ji.

Bhagat Ji addresses a man who has been taken in by the attractions of the world. He fails to realise the entire world is perishable, and in his ignorance, does not take to Naam.

Bhagat Ji says, that day which dawns must surely depart; whatever you do is transient, nothing remains stable; your companions are leaving, remind yourself, I will leave too; the destination is far away, and death is hovering over every head.”

“Jo din aave so din jahee; karna kooch rahan thirr nahi; sang chalatt hai ham bhi chalnaa; durr gavan sirr upar marnaa.”

In the rahao, Bhagat Ji scolds man. Why are you still asleep? Wake up you ignorant fool; do you believe that you have an eternal life in this world?

“Kya to soeyaa jaag eyanaa; teh jeevan jag Sach kar janaa.” (rahao).

The One who gave you life also provides your nourishment; in each and every heart, He runs His Shop; meditate upon the Lord and abandon your egotism and self conceit; remember His Naam in your heart, while you still have life.

“Jin jio pind diya so rijak ambrave; sabh ghat bhittar haat chalavhe; kar bandgi chadh mai mera; hirday Naam samaar saveraa.”

Your life has passed away, but you have not cleared your Path; dusk (of your life) has set in, and soon there will be darkness on all sides; Ravidas says, O ignorant mad man; do you not realize this world is the house of death?

“Janam sirano panth na sawaraa; sanjh pari deh dis andhiaraa; kahe Ravidas nidhan diwane; chetas nahi duniya fanh khane.”
