Raag Gujri  – Bhagat Namdev Ji.

Bhagat Ji marvels at Lord’s absolute Sovereignity, and His Wondrous ways.

If You gave me an empire, what glory would be in it for me?; if You made me beg for charity, what loss (of dignity) would I suffer?

“Jo raaj deh ta kavan badaiyee; jo bheekh mangaveh ta kya ghat jayee.”

With that realization, that God can make You do anything, and put you in any situation, Bhagat Ji now addresses his mind.

O my mind, meditate upon the Lord, and you shall obtain the Boundless state (where there is no “baan,” bondages, bounds); thus you will not have to come and go in reincarnation again.

“Tu Har bhaj mann mere padh nirbaan; bahur neh hoye tera aavan jaan.” (rahao).

You created all, and You lead them astray in delusion; only those upon whom You bestow understanding, realize You.

“Sabh Teh upayee bharam bhulayee; jis Tu deveh tissay bujhayee.”

Meeting the True Guru (Shabad), your restlessness departs; who else should I worship since I see none other?

“Satgur milay ta sahsa jayee; kis hao pujho dujja nadar na ayee.”

One stone is lovingly adored; while another stone is walked upon; if that first stone is a deva, then the other must be too; Namdev says, I serve only the One Lord.

“Ekay paathar kijjay bhao; dujjay paathar dhariye paaon; je oh deo ta of bhi deva; kahe Namdeo ham Har ki sewa.”
