A jeev isteri takes a deep look at herself and realises she is full of faults. She lists out many of her failings, and pleads for the Lord’s Mercy towards the end of the Shabad.

My Lord is Beautiful, (but) I have not appreciated His Worth; abandoning my loyalty to Him, I have become engrossed in duality (maya).

“Mera Har Prabh Sundar mai saar na jaani; hao Har Prabh chodh dujjay lobhaani.”

In my foolish state, how can I ever meet my Lord?; the wise ones who are pleasing to Him, meet their Husband Lord, and are happy soul brides.

“Hao kyo kar Pir ko milho eyaanee; jo Pir bhaave sa suhagan sayee Pir ko milhe syaanee.” (rahao).

I am full of faults, how can I meet Him?; there are so many who love You, I do not even feature in Your Thoughts.

“Mai vich dosh hao kyo kar Pir paava; Tere anek pyare hao Pir chit na aava.”

The blessed soul brides enjoy Union with their Husband Lord; what can I do? I am a discarded bride, I do not have those virtues.

“Jin Pir raveya sa bhali suhagan; se mai gunn nahi hao kya kari duhagan.”

The fortunate soul brides unite continually with their Husband Lord; when will He ever hold an unlucky one like me close in His Embrace?

“Nitt suhagan sada Pir raavhe; mai karamheen kab hi gall laavhe.”

O Husband Lord You are full of merits while I am full of faults; Wretched Nanak pleads – please bless me with Your Mercy.

“Tu Pir gunvanta hao augianaara; mai nirgun baksh Nanak vechaara.”
