Guru Ji speaks about the Guru (Shabad).

I worship and adore my Guru; the Guru is the Lord of the Universe; the Guru is my Supreme Lord; He is most Auspicious.

“Gur meri puja Gur Gobind; Gur mera Parbrahm Gur Bhagvant.”

My Guru is Divine, Indescribable and Mysterious; all my service and worship is at the Guru’s Feet. (Bani).

“Gur mera Deo Alakh Abheyo; sarab pujh Charan Gur seo.”

Besides the Guru I have no other Refuge; night and day I recite the Name of the Guru (Shabad, Bani).

“Gur bin avar nahi mai thaoo; andin japho Guru Gur Naoo.” (rahao).

The Guru is my spiritual Wisdom and I enshrine the Guru (Shabad), in my heart; the Guru is the Lord of the world, the Primal Being, Lord God.

“Gur mera gyan Gur ridhay dhyaan; Gur Gopal Purakh Bhagvaan.”

With my palms pressed together (sign of humility and respect), I remain in the Guru’s Sanctuary; without the Guru I have no other at all.

“Gur ki Sharan reho kar jorh; Guru bina mai nahi horh.”

The Guru is the Boat to carry you across the terrifying world ocean; serving the Guru one is released from the messenger of death. (miseries).

“Gur Bohith tarey bhav paar; Gur sewa jamm te chutkaar.”

In all darkness the Guru’s Mantra (Shabad), shines bright; in the Guru’s Company all are saved.

“Andhkaar me Gur Mantar ujaraa; Gur ke sang sagal nistaraa.”

The Perfect Guru is found by great good fortune; serving the Guru you do not suffer pain.

“Gur Pura paaiyeh vadhbhagee; Gur ki sewa dukh na lagee.”

No one can erase (destroy), the Guru’s Shabad; Nanak is the Guru (Shabad), Nanak (Shabad) is the Lord Himself.

“Gur ka Shabad na metay koye; Gur Nanak Nanak Har soye.”
