SGGS Angg 289.

Raag Gauree – Sukhmani Sahib

Last pada (8) of Astpadhi 19.

Guru Ji stresses the need to be focussed on One Lord at all times.

Recite the Name of the One Lord and sing the Praises of One; meditate upon One, and yearn for One; sing the Infinite Glorious Praises of One; with your mind and body chant the Name of the One Gracious Lord.

“Eko jap Eko salahe; Ek simar Eko mann aahe; Ekass ke gunn gaavho anant; mann tann jaap Ek Bhagvant.”

The One Lord Himself is One and only One; The Lord pervades all; the many expanses have come from One; as You adore Him (internally), all your sins are erased.

“Eko Ek Ek Har Aap; puran puur rehiyo Prabh biyaap; anik bisthaar Ek te bhaye; Ek aradh parashat gaaye.”

As your mind and body gets drenched with love for the One Lord; Nanak says, with the Guru’s Grace, you get enlightened about the One Lord.

“Mann tann antar Ek Prabh rataa; Gur Parsad Nanak Eik jataa.”

Bhai Ji further elaborated on November 7, 2925:

SGGS Ji begins with the figure 1.
The central importance of Eik is stressed throughout SGGS Ji.
This Eik resides within all of us.
In the final pada (8) of Astpadhi 19, Guru Ji says we should all recite only the Name of One, and, Sing the Praises of One.

“Eko Jap Eko Salahe.”

Meditate upon One, and yearn for His Darshan in your mind.

“Eik simar Eko mann aahe.”

Sing the Glories of the Infinite One.

“Ekass ke gunn gaoo anant.”

With mind and body, lovingly recite the Name of the One Glorious Lord.

“Mann tann jaap Eik Bhagwant.”

He is One, and only One by Himself.

“Eko Ek Ek Har Aap.”

He completely Pervades and Permeates all.

“Puran Purh rehiyo Prabh Biaap.”

The countless expanses of Creation have all come from One.

“Anik Bisthaar Ek te bhaye.”

As you adore the One, all your sins will be erased.

“Eik aradh parashatt gaye.”

As you mind and body are drenched with Love for the One Lord; with Gur Parsad, the One is known.

“Mann tann antar Ek Prabh raata; Gur Parsad Nanak Ek jaata.”
