Raag Bilaaval (Bilawal) M.5.

This Shabad has two rahaos. In the first rahao the jeev isteri pleads for Union and poses a question. When will I ever be united?
In the second rahao, there is fulfillment and she meets her Beloved Lord.

A jeev isteri cries out to the Lord. I yearn for Union. When will You come to my home?

She says O Enticing Lord. I cannot sleep. I have adorned myself with necklaces, gowns, ornaments and made myself up to look beautiful. (You will notice all her adornments are external). I am sad and depressed; when will You Grace my home?

“Mohan neend na aave havey haar kajar bastar abharan kinney; udinee udinee udinee; kab ghar aave ri” (rahao).

She seeks counsel from other jeev isteris who are already Suhagans (united soul brides). I seek the Sanctuary of the happy soul brides; I place my head upon their feet. Please unite me with my Beloved; when will He come to my home?

“Sharan Suhagan Charan sees dhar; Laalan mohe milavho; kab ghar aave ri.”

The Suhagan (Guru) tells her  let me tell you how to meet Him; eradicate all ego and you shall find your Beloved within the home of your own heart; with delight, sing His Praises; meditate upon the Lord, embodiment of all Bliss; as you come with your Guru (Nanak) to the Lord’s Door, then you will say I have found my Beloved.

“Sunho saheri milan baat kaho sagro ahung mitavho tao ghar hi Laalan pavho; tab rass mangal gunn gavho; anand roop dhiaavho; Nanak Duarey aayo; tao mai Laalan paiyo ri.”

As she is blessed with Darshan, she exclaims in delight. The Enticing Lord has shown His Form to me; and now I sleep in peace; my thirst is totally quenched; now I am absorbed in Celestial bliss; how sweet is the Story (Bani) of my Husband Lord; I have found (united with), my Enticing Husband Lord.

“Mohan roop dikhaave; ab mohe neend suhavhe; sabh meri tikha bujhanee; ab mai sahaj samanee; mithi Pirhe Kahanee; Mohan Laalan paiyo ri” (rahao duja).
