There are two Baarah Maahaa Banis in SGGS. One is in Raag Majh by Guru Arjan Dev Ji, and it talks about the forces of nature externally, and also compares it to man’s inner journey. Man is caught in time, while God is timeless, and Guru Ji tells us to get out of the grip of time and merge with the Timeless One.

The other is in Raag Tukhari by Guru Nanak Dev Ji, which has 17 paadas. The first four paadas talks about the four khands – dharam, gian, saram and karam.
Then the 12 months talks about the blossoming of nature in the world, in contrast to the loneliness of the jiv isteri. Each month Guru Ji says is auspicious, and traces a progression of avasta in the jiv isteri, and finally resulting in union within herself.

This follows the Bani of Pehre, which is different from the Pehre at Ang 74-78. This Pehre describes in jivisteri terms, where every aspect of her life is spent in utter darkness. Veechar by Bhai Manjeet Singh Ji on Sunday at Titiwangsa, 9th April, 2017.
