Shabad Veechar of Raag Maroo SGGS Ang 1008-1020 by Bhai Manjeet Singh Ji at GS Parliament on Monday, 24 October 2022. This was followed by Simran.

Bhai Ji shares that Simran is best done quietly at home and done silently in the mind. The tongue does not speak and the Guru says one should “jibhe bajho bolna..”(Ang 139) and Praise Him without using the tongue. “……..mann sahaj samanaa bin rasna Ustat karaiyee”(Ang 903).
Instead of using the tongue, His Praises are sung now with the mind only. And it is “Ustat karaiyee”, i.e. the Guru takes over and you yourself are no longer singing the Praises. He makes you sing His Praises.

That is the ideal state/avastha we should all strive for. In sadhsanggat however, the simran has to be led and is done audibly and softly. Everyone reads the Shabads or Gurmantar, Mool Mantar and abhiaas is done.

With this practice in sadhsanggat, the Sikh will find it easier to go deeper inwards with Guru Shabad. The Guru has said “Satsanggat Satguru chatsaal hai jit Har Gunn sikha”(1316)
The Satsanggat is the School of the Satguru where one learns the Virtues/ Attributes of the Lord.
