Raag Gauree (Gauri) M.9

Guru Ji marvels at God’s play. We see death before us every day, but yet man harbours the thought, and acts like, he will live forever.

O holy persons, God fashioned all creation; one person passes away, yet the very next one, thinks he will live forever – this is a wonder beyond understanding.

“Sadho rachna Raam banaiyee; eik binsay eik asthirr maane achraj lakhiyo na jaaiye.” (rahao).

Mortal beings are gripped by lust, anger, and emotional attachment – they have forgotten the Immortal Lord; like a dream in the night, they believe their false (perishable) bodies to be true (eternal).

“Kaam krodh moh bass pranee Har murat bisraiyee; jhutha tann Sacha kar maanieyo jio supna reinaiyee.”

Whatever is seen shall all pass away like the shadow of a cloud; servant Nanak says, know the world to be perishable, and remain in the Sanctuary of the All Pervading Lord.

“Jo dissay so saggal binasay jio badar ki chaiyee; jann Nanak jag jaaniyo mithiya rehiyo Raam Sarnaiyee.”
