A Sikh sings of the joys of Naam, and the enlightenment and bliss it brings.

The night is peaceful, and the day is beautiful; I join the company of Saints and recite the Lord’s Name; as you remember the Lord in meditation, even for a moment, an instant, life becomes fruitful and prosperous.

“Rainn suhavrhi dinass suhela; jap Amrit Naam Santsang mela; ghari murat simrat palh vanje jiwan safal tithayi jio.”

As you meditate on Naam, all sins are erased; the Lord is always with us, within us, and outside everywhere; fear, dread and doubts have been removed by the Perfect Guru. Now I see God everywhere.

“Simrat Naam dokh sabh nassey; antar bahar Har Prabh sathey; bhay bhao bharam khoya Gur Purey dekha sabhni jayee jio.”

God is All Powerful, Vast, Lofty and Infinite; The Treasure of Naam is overflowing with the nine treasures; From the beginning, the time in between, and till the end, God is Present. Nothing can compare with Him.

“Prabh Samrath Vadh Uchh Aparaa; Nao nidh Naam bharay bhandaraa; aad antt madh Prabh soyee dujja laveh na layee jio.”

O Lord, Merciful to the lowly ones, please Grant me Your Grace; I am a beggar and beg for the dust of the feet of the holy; servant Nanak pleads for this Gift, that I may always meditate upon You, Lord.

“Kar kirpa mere Deen Dyalaa; jachik jache Sadh ravalaa; deh daan Nanak jan maange sada sada Har dhiayee jio.”
