The Spiritual Path is very tough.
In Anand Sahib Guru Amardas Ji says,
“Chala nirali bhagta keri bikham marag chalna.”
The lifestyle of the Saints in unique and they walk on a most difficult Path.
Added to that are the challenges of the world. You will meet difficult persons and tough situations in daily life. Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji says,
“Apne sukh seyo hi jagh fandhiyo ko kahu ko nahi.”
The world is caught up in it’s own selfish needs and none cares for the other.
In such a situation, it is natural to feel exhausted and you feel like giving up everything. Gurbani says you must not waver or falter. Place your reliance upon the Lord. As you are steadfast with Naam, the Lord will surely help to overcome all your difficulties and fulfil all your wishes. Thus, Guru Ji says,
“Kahe mann to dolta Har mansa puranhar.”
One should meditate upon Shabad Guru Ji, He will destroy all pains.
“Satgur Purakh dhiaye tu sabh dukh vasaranhar.”
Bhai Ji further elaborated on February 8, 2025:
As one plods through daily life, there are moments when you feel dejected, all alone, exhausted by the trials of life.
Under such circumstances, if you do not take to Naam, do no satsanggat, you will fall prey to depression. This will increase over time leading to disastrous results. In Gurbani, depression or deep rooted sorrow is known as “sogh.” If you have Love for Naam, no depression or sorrow can afflict you.
At Angg 683, Guru Ji says,
“Charan Kamal ja ka mann raape; sogh aggan tis jann na biaape.”
In this Slok (Ang 959- 960) from Ramkali Ki Vaar Mehla 5, Guru Ji Advises the mann not to falter/waver. Guru Ji assures, do not despair, the Lord can fulfil every wish.
“Kahe mann tu dolta Har mansa puranhaar.”
What you should do is take to Naam, go deep inwards with simran (“dhiiaye”), all your dukh will vanish.
“Satgur Purakh dhiiaye tu sabh dukh visaranhaar.”
As you go deep inwards and Adore Him with love, your sins/karmas will be washed away.
“Har Nama aradh mann sabh kilvikh jahe vikaar.”
As you keep to Naam with sincerity, He will infuse love for Nirankar within you.
“Jin ko purab likhiya tin rang lagga Nirankar.”
As love for God wells up in you, you will turn away from the external attractions of maya, and will become engrossed in accumulating the True Everlasting Wealth of Infinite Naam.
“Ohni chadiya maya suavrha dhan sanchiya Naam Apaar.”
Such persons become lovingly absorbed in God twenty four hours, and they willingly surrender to the Will of the Infinite One.
“Athe pahar eikte livhe mannan Hukam Apaar.”
In utter humility, now the Sikh lovingly pleads for His Darshan.
“Jan Nanak mangge daan deho Daras Mann Pyaar.”
It is a wonderful journey although it is most trying. With His Grace, the rewards are Infinite too.
