Guru Arjun Dev Ji was bestowed with Gurgaddi at Goindwal Sahib by Guru Ramdas Ji on 1st September 1581.

Guru Ji was only 18 years old then.

Sikh tradition says as Guru Arjun Dev Ji left for his home after the Anointment, his mother, Mata Bhani Ji asked him as most Punjabi mothers do

“What profit (khatti) have you earned today?”.

The Shabad is a reply by Guru Ji about the Divine Profits he had earned with Gurgaddi. This was reportedly the first Shabad expressed by Guru Arjun Dev Ji as Satguru.

That is the sakhi.

This is Dhur Ki Bani. Keeping
“Mata Matt Pita Santokh” (Ang 151) in mind, this Shabad was Divine Revelation as to Guru Ji’s Status as a Satguru.

Guru Ji says, I have obtained the Wealth (Har Dhan) of Naam Recital (Jaap), the Divine Wealth of Meditation (Taap), and Enjoyable (Bhaaiya), Divine Sustenance (Bhojan).

“Har dhan jaap har dhan taap har dhan bhojan bhaaiaa.”

Now, my mann does not ever forget the Lord even for an instant (Nimakh na Bissro Mann Te Har Har). This Gift came from keeping holy company (Sadhsanggat me paaiya).

O Mother, your son has returned home with Divine Profit (Maee Khaat Aaiyo Ghar Poota).

As I walk, or sit, whether I am awake or asleep, this Divine Wealth stays with me.

(Har Dhan Chalte Har Dhan Besseh Har Dhan Jaagat Soota). [Rahao].
